The Hood Canal

This body of water is host to some of the best outdoor adventure in the North West! This is the best place to get a taste of wilderness, seclusion, and some peace and quite in the greater Seattle area. Hood Canal has a sense of ruggedness about it rarely seen so close to the city life. Snow top mountains bolt straight out of the saltwater and tower over every inch of the fjord. Every person who has experienced this fairly underutilized piece of paradise can not help but want to return as soon as possible.

If the views, eagles, whales, and other majestic creatures  are not enough to turn you on, perhaps the worlds best Sea Run Cutthroat fishery is! Thats right, Cutthroat trout are the West’s most adorned trout, and here they run to the saltwater and cruise our beaches waiting to ambush any unsuspecting bait… or flies… or spoons.

Sea Run Cutthroat run into the rivers chasing the salmon to eat their eggs and flesh, spawn, and dump back out into the saltwater to recover from spawning and get fat on our local bait fish. They live mostly in the intertidal zones making them great targets for anglers from the beaches, and even better targets from anglers in boats! Hiring one of Hood Canals local fly fishing and light tackle charters is a great way to experience this fishery.

Once salmon fishing is open many people flock to the down riggers and mooching rigs to chase Chinook salmon. However Hood Canal is also home to Coho, Pinks and Chum salmon making it a year round salmon fishing opportunity for anglers armed with fly rods and light tackle rigs!
